Our work
Swiilawiid is a community-centered and culturally guided organization that cares deeply about the sustainability and well-being of Haida Gwaii. We actively work to contribute to healthy communities, lands, air and waters. We are constantly inspired by the people of Haida Gwaii and hope to inspire others in our work. As Haida citizens and people of Haida Gwaii, we are proud stewards of the land and sea, and we’re committed to working with our friends and neighbours to increase Island independence, by recognizing the interconnectedness of all things, amid the changing climate.

Living in a way that demonstrates we know we are part of the natural world. We’re purpose-filled and prioritize iterative projects and meaningful partnerships that bring us closer to sustainability as a way of life. We follow different pathways towards this vision.
